The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) is pleased to announce entries are now open for the 2014 Royal Melbourne Show Art, Craft & Cookery competition.
Encouraging creativity and passion, the Art, Craft & Cookery competition is ideal for those who enjoy having fun while being challenged and boasts more than 350 classes for pros and novices alike.
There’s nothing like winning a prestigious blue ribbon in the Art, Craft & Cookery competition at the Royal Melbourne Show and with more than $20,000 worth of prizes on offer, there are even more reasons to enter this year.
This year’s competition features new and updated classes across a variety of sections, including Art, Photography, Knitting, Sewing, Crochet, Basketry, Papercrafts and Cookery.
To inspire creativity and innovation, the RASV has developed a new series of Creative Challenges across six categories: Embellish, Adorn, Out of the Box, Amazing Gingerbread Architecture, Short Jacket Sewing and a competition celebrating 60 years of lamingtons in the Art, Craft & Cookery competition.
RASV CEO Mark O’Sullivan said the RASV is committed to enhancing the Art, Craft & Cookery competition to ensure it’s a fun and rewarding experience for entrants, comparing and benchmarking their inspired creations against others.
“In response to exhibitor feedback, the RASV has introduced a number of exciting categories and classes.
“The new classes aim to inspire experienced crafters and encourage the next generation of competitors to have fun while competing for the unique opportunity to have their creation on display at the 2014 Royal Melbourne Show for more than 500,000 people to see,” said Mr O’Sullivan.
The Great Tea Cosy Swap, ‘My Woolly Farmyard’ school challenge and creative knitting and crochet classes are all free to enter and are a fun and rewarding way to get involved in the 2014 Royal Melbourne Show Art, Craft & Cookery competition.
For the first time, Queen Fine Foods will present the iced and decorative cupcake categories across novice, open and junior competitions offering more than $800 in prizes, while the papercrafts competition will be supported by Kaisercrafts, with exciting classes ranging from 3D paper sculpture, ‘Beyond the Page’, scrapbooking and 3D card making. Tupperware will also provide $10,000 in prizes for the Cookery section.
The best exhibits will be on display for all 12 days of the 2014 Royal Melbourne Show, from Saturday, 20 September to Wednesday, 1 October at Melbourne Showgrounds.
To ensure entering the Art, Craft & Cookery competition is quick and easy, entrants will have the option to enter online at www.rasv.com.au/artsandcraft by Friday, 18 July, with physical exhibits due at a later date.
