Young Farmer’s Challenge - Entries Still Open

Entries are open for the 2014 Young Farmer’s Challenge State Finals!

With previous State Champions (2012) Dean/Newlyn already registered for this year’s competition as well as Clunes and District Young Farmers and the latest entrant ‘Crouching Cow, Hidden Tractor’, it’s time to get your team entry in and be part of the action!

Entries will remain open until Friday 5 September.

This year’s Young Farmer Challenge (YFC) State Finals will be held on Saturday 20 September at the Royal Melbourne Show.

All teams must have male and female members and all registered competitors must be between 16-30 years of age on the day of competition. To be eligible to enter, teams only need to be involved in Victorian agriculture in some form.

The Australian Young Farmer Challenge encourages competitors to display a range of farming skills. As such the YFC is designed to promote excellence in farming and rural community spirit by showcasing the involvement of youth in Agriculture.

The event demonstrates skills, equipment and techniques used by farmers in everyday field activities through a series of challenges which must be completed in the fastest time and with the highest precision. Challenges that have been used in previous National and State finals include stacking hay, leading an alpaca, drenching a sheep, reversing a ute and a quad bike challenge.
