Media Release: Victoria shines in 2015 Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards

Australia’s premium fine food event, the Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards (RMFFA) presented a record 49 Trophies across 16 categories at the annual presentation dinner on Thursday 3 September.

Conducted annually by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV), the RMFFA recognises and celebrates the country’s most talented fine food producers.

Victorian producers excelled at this year’s RMFFA, claiming 30 of the esteemed Trophies in most categories.

Fine food producers from New South Wales were awarded an impressive nine champion trophies, followed by Tasmania with four; South Australia with two; Queensland with two, Australian Capital Territory with one and Western Australia with one.*

The Victorian Award for Best Victorian Product, was taken home by Cobram Estate for its Reserve Hojiblanca Extra Virgin Olive Oil from Boundary Bend in northern Victoria.

RASV CEO Mark O’Sullivan said the RMFFA continues to grow in popularity and the high calibre of entries from around Australia made it a challenging task for the judges this year.

“United by a passion for Australian food, the judges and team at RASV were impressed by the quality and number of entries submitted by talented Australian producers and manufacturers,” said Mr O’Sullivan.

"We would like to congratulate all Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards entrants and winners, and thank the judges for their contribution in determining this year’s champions."

The RMFFA are presented over two seasonal programs celebrating small to large fine food producers and manufacturers to provide an opportunity to benchmark products and establish their credentials in the Australian fine food industry.

This year RASV received 1,796 entries from 408 exhibitors across 16 categories in the RMFFA.

RMFFA categories include Chocolate, Branded Beef, Branded Lamb, Bread and Baked Goods, Cider and Perry, Dairy, Sheep, Goat and Buffalo, Delicatessen; Free Range Eggs; Fresh Produce; Olive Oil; Pantry Goods; Pasta; Preserves; and Table Olives.
