The 2016 Royal Melbourne Alpaca Show was held over the weekend the 9-10 July at Melbourne Showgrounds with breeders competing for the prestigious Supreme Champion Suri and Huacaya honours.
Pitchingga Ridge Alpaca owners Jean and David Daddo, were awarded Supreme Champion Suri for exhibit Pitchingga Ridge Soleil, a one-year old female white alpaca, taking home the Bill Plunkett Perpetual Trophy.
Located in the Hinterland of the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Jean and David boast over 20 years in the industry with strong focus on White Suri, Black Suri and Black Huacaya.
Supreme Champion Huacaya was awarded Precision Alpaca Group’s exhibit Yenaminut Evokateur, a light fawn 2-year old male alpaca.
The Precision Alpaca Group, founded in October 2015, is the culmination of five studs combining years of genetic advancement and breeding experience.
Conducted by RASV, the competition offers credible benchmarking and market differentiation with the seal of quality a blue ribbon represents, attracting entries from Australia’s best alpaca breeders.
