RASV receives positive response to Dairy Expo plan

RASV's proposal to deliver a large scale dairy event was supported in principle by government and industry when presented at International Dairy Week (IDW) in January.

The Australian Dairy Expo concept was unveiled at an RASV hosted breakfast which included a keynote speech from the Minister for Agriculture, Peter Walsh and attended by Dairy Australia’s CEO Ian Halliday.

The concept presented by IDW’s Robyn Barber, plans to merge the Royal Melbourne Dairy Show and IDW to deliver a premier must attend dairy event every two-to-three years. The combined event will include the latest innovations, trade and investment opportunities to provide dairy farmers with business critical information. If endorsed by both the RASV Board and the dairy industry, the event could run in 2017 and seek to include participants along the whole of dairy value chain.

In addition, a focus on attracting international visitors will provide greater network opportunities for the dairy industry and increase sponsor value.

The Australian Dairy Expo is one of two large scale events proposed to boost RASV’s value within the agricultural/agribusiness sectors. The proposal in the early stages of development and is part of the Agriculture Development Team’s broader engagement strategy.
